There is still time — contact your senators TODAY!!!
Call today and tell Your Senators to Extend the Medicaid Funding Increase by SUPPORTING THE MEDICAID AND EDUCATION JOBS AMENDMENT to HR 1586.
Medicaid provides a critical link to needed mental health services for millions of low-income Americans. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), enacted in February of 2009, included additional Medicaid funding for states through higher federal matching rates through the end of December 2010. Prior efforts to extend the Medicaid funding increase through June of 2011 have failed. The Senate failed on three occasions this summer to win the 60 votes needed to move the legislation for a vote. This may be our last chance!
The vote was earlier set to occur on Monday, August 2nd, but Senator Reid postponed bringing it to the floor. THE VOTE MAY NOW OCCUR AS EARLY AS TODAY, SO CALL YOUR SENATORS NOW to urge them to ensure that the extension of the increase in Medicaid funding is passed. It is vital that every Senator that supports the FMAP increase extension is present and votes YES.
Take Action!
We expect the Senate to vote BY THE END OF THE WEEK on an amendment to HR 1586 to provide a six month extension (through June 30, 2011) of the ARRA increase in Federal Medicaid Assistance Percentage (FMAP). The amendment is fully offset and does not increase the national deficit.
