STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- There will be a concert tonight to benefit quadruple amputee Brendan Marrocco, the Army specialist whose cause has been taken up by numerous Staten Islanders.
Funds are being raised for construction of an adapted house in Huguenot, near Marrocco's childhood home.
The Stephen Siller Children's Foundation and Building Homes for Heroes hopes to raise $100,000 tonight on behalf of the 24-year-old, who lost his limbs after a roadside bomb exploded in Iraq on Easter Sunday of 2009.
The concert will begin at 8 o'clock at the St. George Theatre. Performers include Gary Sinise & The Lt. Dan Band, Daniel Rodriguez and comedian Tom Dreeson.
The foundation plans several other fundraisers for Marrocco, including Firefighters for Brendan Morocco on Oct. 9, a picnic at the Hillside Swim Club, with the goal of raising $500,000 to erect the house. Borough President James Molinaro will proclaim Oct. 1 "Brendan's Day."
Tickets for tonight's concert are $50, and can be had by calling 718-442-2900.
