A community residence in Eltingville for eight developmentally disabled adults received unanimous approval last night from members of Community Board 3.
Even though the proposed residence had riled some community members who expressed their objections during a community meeting earlier this month, board members shared none of their concerns, voting 28 to 0 in favor during a full board meeting in the CYO-MIV Center, Pleasant Plains.
Eight mentally challenged and/or autistic adults are slated to move into the house at 4023 Richmond Ave., where they will live under the guidance of staff from Community Resources.
The particular group that will move into the new residence has been in operation for more than 20 years without incident, a Community Resources official has said.
The 53-year-old Staten Island-based agency operates 17 such residences here.
