From Gerry ****erson at MedStar:
Next Thursday NCART will be holding a Legislative Fly-In in Washington, DC to seek a delay in the implementation of Round 1 Competitive Bidding and to lobby for the Exemption (not delay) of Complex Rehab from National Competitive Bidding. This is in conjunction with the NRRTS educational conference. To lay the foundation for the in-person visits on Thursday and for those who cannot come to Washington, NCART is holding a National Rehab Exemption Call-In Day on next Tuesday April 22.
We need to generate requests for Congressional support starting on next Tuesday so we keep the heat on Congress to recognize the problems with NCB and the necessity to exempt Complex Rehab. Details can be found on the attached flyer but I am asking you to
1) Join us for a 20 minute kick-off conference call on Tuesday April 22nd at 11:00 AM EST at 1.866.802.8639. Use caller ID# 44052028. If the phone line is busy, or you are not able to make that time, the call will be recorded and available 2 hours afterwards.
2) After the call, go to www.ncartcoalition.org (http://www.ncartcoalition.org) and enter your zip code to find the senators and representatives in your area.
3) Call Congressional Representatives from your state (both work and residential) and deliver the message “HR 2231 must pass right away”.
4) After completing your calls please email me so that we can log how many calls were made and to whom.
But for now, please reserve an hour on April 22 at 11 AM ET and prepare yourself and your fellow staff to make calls to your Representatives following the call.
There has never been a more important time to get involved. If we do not stop the implementation of Competitive Bidding and get an Exemption for Complex Rehab Equipment, providers will no longer be able to supply the products and provide the services that we currently do.
If this issue is important to you and you can put aside an hour next Tuesday, please contact me ASAP (Email or phone) so that we can reserve a "seat" on our conference call. We are expecting a lot of people to join us so we do need to make reservations for this call. I hope you can join us.
Make a decision to do something now. Remember that if you do nothing, you have made a decision.
