COME WET A LINE AT PROSPECT PARK!!
The I FISH NY program, in conjunction with the New York City Department of Parks
and Recreation, is pleased to offer a free fishing clinic designed to introduce people with
disabilities to the sport of fishing in Prospect Park, Brooklyn, on Saturday, September 13th, 2008 from 11 am – 3 pm (with September 14th as a raindate). Family, friends and caregivers will also be welcomed to fish at this clinic. Fishing licenses are not required
during this special event as it has been designated a “free fishing day” by the NYS
Department of Environmental Conservation.
If you are interested in fishing for largemouth bass or panfish, Prospect Park Lake is the
place to go. No experience is necessary. Fishing rods and bait will be provided; adaptive fishing gear designed for those with little or no hand strength will also be available.
Prospect Park’s wheelchair-accessible bathrooms and parking will help to facilitate
attendance by people of all abilities who wish to fish. In addition to fishing instruction, the clinic will provide information and education on the aquatic ecology of Prospect Park.
To reserve space contact the I FISH NY program at 718-482-4022. Space is limited so call early. Let us know if you have questions or will require
other specific accommodations. We hope to see you there!
The I FISH NY program is a partnership between New York Sea Grant and the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation.
