“Frieda Zames was a highly unique and powerful woman who was one of the key catalysts in the often successful struggle to achieve equality and complete access at every level. In initiating many accessibility campaigns using Disabled in Action and numerous as forums for political and social action, she galvanized many people with and without disabilities from diverse backgrounds and viewpoints into taking a stand and making a difference in our lives. In a true sense, she was the spiritual and guiding force that holds the disability rights movement in New York City together”.
