Do You Care about Home and Community Based Services, Medicaid's Institutional Bias and Waiting Lists?

Take Action Today!

Take action TODAY, October 15, to make sure long term services and supports stay in health care reform legislation

The ARC is working with a number of aging and disability organizations to host a National Call-In Day to urge the Senate to keep long-term supports and services (LTSS) in health care reform legislation.

The Senate is now merging (hopefully) the best parts of the Finance Committee bill with the best parts of the Health Education Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee bill. Right now these bills include two LTSS provisions that are extremely important to people with disabilities:

The Community First Choice (CFC) Option would encourage states to provide Medicaid home and community based attendant services. The CFC Option would be a major step in helping to end Medicaid's institutional bias and getting people off waiting lists.

The Community Living Assistance Services and Supports (CLASS) Act (also called the CLASS Plan) would create a national voluntary long term care insurance program. It is aimed at helping people better prepare for their long term care needs and to help take pressure off of the Medicaid program.

Millions of people with disabilities and older Americans have fought hard to get these LTSS provisions to where they are. We must keep the pressure on the Senate to keep the provisions in. We can't let LTSS get negotiated out of the bill.

Take 5 Minutes TODAY, October 15 to TELEPHONE YOUR SENATORS' OFFICES
