Access-A-Ride (AAR) provides transportation for people who are unable to use public bus or subway service for some or all of their trips. It offers shared ride, door-to-door paratransit service. MTA New York City Transit administers AAR; private carriers under contract to NYC Transit provide service. |

Several years ago, the Paratransit Advisory Committee (PAC) requested that Access-A-Ride (AAR) designate pick-up/drop-off sites at locations such as hospitals and schools where customers and carriers kept missing each other. NYC Transit and the NYC Department of Transportation have been working together to identify pick-up/drop-off sites near such locations. Access-A-Ride identification signs are generally placed near bus stops to prohibit other vehicles from parking there. |
